MacRTrace is the Macintosh port of Antonio Costa's RTrace ray tracing program. It has a friendly Macintosh user interface, and runs on any Mac with System 7, a 68020 or better processor, and a math coprocessor (or a 68040 processor), or any PowerMac. It runs native on the PowerMac and it really screams; I ran a few tests, and the speedup from Quadra 610 to PowerMac 7100/80 looks like about seven times! Like most ray tracers, MacRTrace likes lots of memory; it needs at least a 2 meg partition to do anything useful, and the more, the better. This version is available from my ftp site; see below.

The image above was rendered using MacRTrace. In addition to rendering photorealistic images, MacRTrace can also create simple animations, and save them as QuickTime movies or as a series of PICT files. My quota prevents me from making one of these movies available here, but I'll send you one if you email.
MacRTrace and its source code are available from my ftp site.
